Motto Verse Deuteronomy 29:29
29 The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may follow all the words of this law.

There’s nothing like having a relationship that’s so intimate with God that he reveals himself and plans to you. But what’s even cooler is that God is so loving that he also reveals himself to anyone he choose even if there not seeking him. I love the fact God is still willing to do that today with us just like he did in the past. The closer we draw closer to him and develop an intimate relationship with him the more he reveals himself to us.

Day 5 of Truth!!!

Motto verse Hebrew 13-8: Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.

The spiritual gift of speaking in tongues was a gift given by God to those he chose. But even to this day, some believers reject that gift or have disbelief in it. The apostle Paul indicated that there is a time and place for it though which is Gods timing. He did say he would rather have a church as a (whole) that prophesied verse an entire church as a (whole) that spoke in tongues so that it wouldn’t cause a distraction to unbelievers.
1 Corinthians 14:22
22 Tongues, then, are a sign, not for believers but for unbelievers; prophecy, however, is not for unbelievers but for believers.

But the Apostle Paul also warned the church not to forbid that gift.
1 Corinthians 14:39
39 Therefore, my brothers and sisters, be eager to prophesy, and do not forbid speaking in tongues.

Let’s take a look and see what Gods word says about speaking in tongues.

After Jesus’ resurrection and accession the speaking of tongues still existed. The next verses prove that.

Acts 2:3-4
3 They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. 4 All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.

Acts 19:6
6 When Paul placed his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they spoke in tongues and prophesied.

1 Corinthians 14:5
5 I would like every one of you to speak in tongues, but I would rather have you prophesy. The one who prophesies is greater than the one who speaks in tongues, unless someone interprets, so that the church may be edified.

“With other tongues and through the lips of foreigner I will speak to this people, but even then they will not listen to me says the Lord.

I’ll finish with the verse that I started with. Hebrew 13-8: Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. If this verse is true then so is Gods ability to give the spiritual gift of speaking in tongues. For those that are in the body of Christ that reject this gift, lets stop rejecting Gods gift so we as a whole can begin to experience God the way the first church in the book of Acts did, so that today’s church can receive the same power that God gave them.

Day 3 Of Truth!!!
Hebrew 13-8: Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.

Some may disagree with this and that’s ok. I believe one of the biggest problems I’ve heard and seen believers in Christ do is reject the gift of prophecy today. Churches have broken up and separated over this issue. I must admit that I too at one point had a hard time with this. I have heard stories of people saying that they felt something was going to happen and it did but I wasn’t so sure. It was until it happened to someone I knew on multiple occasions that had a close relationship with Christ that my mind begin to change and I began to search scriptures. It was at that moment when God showed himself to me and said it clearly. (If you deny my gift of prophecy you deny me, you deny my power and everything else. I was like wow, how deep is that right?

1 Corinthians 14:22
22 Tongues, then, are a sign, not for believers but for unbelievers; prophecy, however, is not for unbelievers but for believers.

The real reason I believe some believers reject this gift is because of fear really. To truly believe that means you have to truly believe in Gods power and gifts. So let’s look at Gods scriptures on this topic of Prophecy and see what he says about it.

1 Corinthians 12:10
10 to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues. (Gift of prophecy according to this verse is a spiritual gift only given by God.)

1 Corinthians 12:28-29
28 And God has placed in the church first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healing, of helping, of guidance, and of different kinds of tongues. 29 Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all work miracles?
(All these gifts make up God total church)

1 Corinthians 14:1
14 Follow the way of love and eagerly desire gifts of the Spirit, especially prophecy.
(This is a gift that should be desired not rejected)

Ephesians 4:11
11 So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers

2 Peter 1:20-21
20 Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things. 21 For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit. (If someone posses this gift, we have to not look at them as having power, but God.)

The gift of prophecy back then help the church grow because people that didn’t believe were able to see some amazing things that were done through people that God used things that they knew only God could do. And that ladies and gentlemen caused them to give their lives to Christ. I believe we are truly missing out on some of Gods greatness because we refuse to believe his word fully only believing bits and pieces. It is until that time that when we truly begin to believe as a body, then we will see Gods greatest manifestation. Hebrew 13-8: Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
God hasn’t change do you agree? We have though from the early and first churches in the book of Acts.

If you’re a believer and his word doesn’t convince you that he hasn’t changed and still gives those he choose the spiritual gift of prophecy then you need to pray that God reveal him self to you for who he truly is. God has given all of those who believe in him spiritual gifts, so let us stop denying his gifts.

4 There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. 5 There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. 6 There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work.

Day 2
Hebrew 13-8: Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
Sometimes I wonder as true followers of Christ if some believers really believe his word for what it is. That thought alone has been pressing on my heart for several days. So I spent several hours searching Gods word to reassure you that God has never changed.

So if we truly believe that God never changed and is the same God now as he was then according to the bible, then you believe that God speaks through his people even today through dreams and visions. If you have a hard time believing that as a believer in Christ then you need to ask yourself why. As followers of Christ we will truly never receive all he has for us or really experience if for whom he truly is if we deny his power.

Habakkuk 1:5 “Look at the nations and watch—and be utterly amazed.
For I am going to do something in your days that you would not believe, even if you were told.

9 During the night Paul had a vision of a man of Macedonia standing and begging him, “Come over to Macedonia and help us.”

9 One night the Lord spoke to Paul in a vision: “Do not be afraid; keep on speaking, do not be silent.

If you’re a believer and his word doesn’t convince you that he hasn’t changed and still speak to us in dreams and visions you need to pray that he reveal him self to you for who he truly is. The topics that we will discuss over the next several days are angels, dreams and visions from God, Healing with the laying of hands, prophets and prophecy, speaking of tongues, prayer, God revelations, his power of given to us, his spirit that dwells in us and his gifts he has given us all who believe. So I will challenge every one of you to dig deep the next couple of days to see if you’re all in or partially in when we discuss several of these deep topics.

The Bible says in Hebrew 13-8: Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. So if we truly believe that God never changed according to the bible, then you believe angles walk with us today on Earth as they did in the past. If you have a hard time believing that as a believer in Christ then you need to ask yourself why.

It opened for them by itself, and they went through it. When they had walked the length of one street, suddenly the angel left him.
11 Then Peter came to himself and said, “Now I know without a doubt that the Lord has sent his angel and rescued me from Herod’s clutches and from everything the Jewish people were hoping would happen.”

Acts 27:23-26
23 Last night an angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I serve stood beside me. 24 and said, ‘Do not be afraid, Paul. You must stand trial before Caesar; and God has graciously given you the lives of all who sail with you.’ 25 So keep up your courage, men, for I have faith in God that it will happen just as he told me. 26 Nevertheless, we must run aground on some island.”

If your still not convinced that God angels walks upon Earth with us today providing for us what ever task God has assigned them. Then I pray that you ask God to truly reveal himself to you so that you can truly accept him for who he is and not who we want to make him out to be by limiting his power. As followers of Christ we can’t pick and choose what we want to believe in his word. It’s all or nothing or hot or cold no in between. Revelation 3:16 So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth.

Revelation 22:18-19
18 I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this scroll: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to that person the plagues described in this scroll. 19 And if anyone takes words away from this scroll of prophecy, God will take away from that person any share in the tree of life and in the Holy City, which are described in this scroll.

Day 5- Getting to know Philip

Philip was from the town of Bethsaida on the on the Lake of Galilee. He was also a fisherman like several of the other disciples and a disciple of John the Baptist. Philip after being called by Christ just like Andrew introduced his close friend Nathanael (aka Bartholomew) to Jesus. One of Philip’s responsibilities was provisioning for the party of disciples, or for their picnic rations. Philip was basically catering on their mission trips. A time came though that brought him frustration when Jesus asked him to provide food for a crowd of people. Philip panicked because he didn’t have enough money enough to feed all the people so he began to question Jesus. In the end Jesus provided for everyone in attendance. Philip must have shown that he was very reliable when it came to getting things done in order for Jesus to put him in charge of providing while they were on missions. Philip even after being with Jesus watching all that he had done still asked Jesus this question. Lord, show us the Father, and we shall be satisfied.’ Jesus answers, ‘Have I been with you so long and yet you do not know me, Philip? Philip after the resurrection of Jesus Christ assisted with picking a new disciple who would take Judas’s place. It seems like Philip was a sincere person, very approachable and very practical, but not yet during Jesus’s ministry so much a leader as ‘a contact man’. John 12:20-22
20 Now there were some Greeks among those who went up to worship at the festival. 21 They came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida in Galilee, with a request. “Sir,” they said, “we would like to see Jesus.” 22 Philip went to tell Andrew; Andrew and Philip in turn told Jesus. When it comes to the death of Philip, it’s believed that we was tortured and crucified upside down. Philip when he was called not only brought others to Christ but lived his life spreading the gospel.

John 1:43-45
43 The next day Jesus decided to leave for Galilee. Finding Philip, he said to him, “Follow me.”44 Philip, like Andrew and Peter, was from the town of Bethsaida. 45 Philip found Nathanael and told him, “We have found the one Moses wrote about in the Law, and about whom the prophets also wrote—Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.”

John 6:5-7
5 When Jesus looked up and saw a great crowd coming toward him, he said to Philip, “Where shall we buy bread for these people to eat?” 6 He asked this only to test him, for he already had in mind what he was going to do. 7 Philip answered him, “It would take more than half a year’s wages[a] to buy enough bread for each one to have a bite!”

John 14:7-11
7 If you really know me, you will know[a] my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”8 Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.” 9 Jesus answered: “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10 Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you I do not speak on my own authority. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work. 11 Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the works themselves.

Acts 1:13-14
13 When they arrived, they went upstairs to the room where they were staying. Those present were Peter, John, James and Andrew; Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew; James son of Alphaeus and Simon the Zealot, and Judas son of James. 14 They all joined together constantly in prayer, along with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers.

WHO WERE THE TWELVE? DAY 4 BARTHOLOMEW (AKA NATHANEL)

Day 4- Getting to know Bartholomew (aka. Nathanael)

Bartholomew (Nathanael) came to Christ after being introduced to him by Philip. He was from Cana of Galilee and had a great relationship with Philip. In the Gospels of Matthew, Mark and Luke he is referred to as Bartholomew. But in the book of John he was called Nathanael which might have been his personal name. He was present in the book of Acts assisting with the nomination of the new disciple who would take over Judas Iscariot spot after his betrayal of Jesus. When he was introduced to Jesus by Philip he wasn’t so sure if Jesus who came from Nazareth was the true Messiah, because Nazareth which was place up the road from where he was from Cana to him was a insignificant and uncouth little town. He was just like everyone else waiting on the Messiah and was looking forward to meeting him even sitting under his family fig-tee in quiet and prayer which was customary when he met Jesus. It was until after Jesus called out his name and knew exactly what he was doing before he was called that changed his thought process on Jesus being the Messiah. There isn’t many references about the works of Bartholomew when he walked with Jesus, but after the resurrection of Christ he went on missionary journeys as far as India processing the name of Christ and he would eventually die a martyr for his faith by being flayed (cut open) alive at Albanopolis in Armenia. Even after having doubts about the Messiah, he risked it all by spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Mark 3:13-19
13 Jesus went up on a mountainside and called to him those he wanted, and they came to him. 14 He appointed twelve[a] that they might be with him and that he might send them out to preach 15 and to have authority to drive out demons. 16 These are the twelve he appointed: Simon (to whom he gave the name Peter), 17 James son of Zebedee and his brother John (to them he gave the name Boanerges, which means “sons of thunder”), 18 Andrew, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James son of Alphaeus, Thaddaeus, Simon the Zealot 19 and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him.

John 1:45-49
45 Philip found Nathanael and told him, “We have found the one Moses wrote about in the Law, and about whom the prophets also wrote—Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.”46 “Nazareth! Can anything good come from there?” Nathanael asked.“Come and see,” said Philip.47 When Jesus saw Nathanael approaching, he said of him, “Here truly is an Israelite in whom there is no deceit.”
48 “How do you know me?” Nathanael asked. Jesus answered, “I saw you while you were still under the fig tree before Philip called you.”49 Then Nathanael declared, “Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the king of Israel.”

Act 1:13
When they arrived, they went upstairs to the room where they were staying. Those present were Peter, John, James and Andrew; Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew; James son of Alphaeus and Simon the Zealot, and Judas son of James.

Day 3- Getting to know James son of Zebedee and Salome

James like his brother John was one of the three disciples in Jesus inner circle. James like his brother had a hot temperament and that was one of the reasons Jesus called him the son of thunder. He assisted Jesus on three important missions. He was with Jesus when he resurrected Jairus daughter;with Jesus during his transfiguration; and he was also one of the three that was with Jesus when he went to pray at Gethsemane. I believe James clearly had to be a trust worthy person based off the simple fact that Jesus included him in major events in his life. James one day asked Jesus if he or his brother could sit at his right and the other at the left of his glory. Jesus response to his question, Mark 10:38 38 “You don’t know what you are asking,” Jesus said. “Can you drink the cup I drink or be baptized with the baptism I am baptized with?”
15 years after being called to follow Jesus by the lakeside, James would become the first apostle after Jesus death to become a martyr. James death is also the only death of the twelve that was recorded in the scriptures. James played a major part in the great commission, spreading the gospel which eventually cost him his life. James gave it all for Jesus!!!!

Acts 12:1-2
12 It was about this time that King Herod arrested some who belonged to the church, intending to persecute them. 2 He had James, the brother of John, put to death with the sword.

The Twelve!!!!!

Day 2- Getting to know John)

John was the son of Zebedee and Salom and the brother of James.
He was a fisherman who was apart of the crew with his brother and Simon and Andrew. John was close and apart of Jesus inner circle along with his brother and Peter. Jesus gave him the nickname son of thunder because of his temperament. Jesus took him on three important missions in his life. He accompanied Jesus into the house for the raising of Jairus’s daughter; we was able to witness the glory of Jesus’s transfiguration on the mountain; he was chosen to support Jesus and witness the agony we would go through in the Garden of Gethsemane. Jesus also sent him and Peter out to find the home they would celebrate the Passover at. He also was referred as the “beloved disciple” the one Jesus loved. John was brought to Rome during the reign of the Emperor Domitian, and was thrown in a vat of boiling oil, from which he was miraculously preserved unharmed. He was the only disciple who didn’t die a martyr’s death. He died from natural causes but he lived a martyr’s life. John like Andrew truly had a important part with spreading the Gospel of Christ.

Luke 8:50-51
50 Hearing this, Jesus said to Jairus, “Don’t be afraid; just believe, and she will be healed.”51 When he arrived at the house of Jairus, he did not let anyone go in with him except Peter, John and James, and the child’s father and mother.

Mark 9:2
2 After six days Jesus took Peter, James and John with him and led them up a high mountain, where they were all alone. There he was transfigured before them.

Mark 14:32-33
32 They went to a place called Gethsemane, and Jesus said to his disciples, “Sit here while I pray.” 33 He took Peter, James and John along with him, and he began to be deeply distressed and troubled.

Luke 22:7-8
7 Then came the day of Unleavened Bread on which the Passover lamb had to be sacrificed. 8 Jesus sent Peter and John, saying, “Go and make preparations for us to eat the Passover.”
