Matthew 9 29
Is the lack of faith preventing our prayers from sometimes being answered?

We pray over and over and it seems as if God isn’t answering our prayers. Could it be because as soon as we release it to him through prayer, deep down in our hearts we totally haven’t surrendered it to him? What does that look like? Well it looks like this.

We pray for God to either release something or do something and within minutes, hours or days of asking God we begin to worry about the same issue. Instead of truly trusting that he’s working it out for our good we begin to try to take control of the situation instead of trusting that he can handle whatever the issue maybe.

Matthew 8:16 New International Version
16 When evening came, many who were demon-possessed were brought to him, and he drove out the spirits with a WORD and healed all the sick.

The God who raised the dead, healed the sick, cast out demons by a spoken word but doesn’t have the power to heal our marriages, addictions, relationships, finances, health, insecurities, past sins, or whatever that maybe burdening us?

We must have faith that he’s still the powerful God now that he was then. We must have faith that’s not wavered even if it’s the size of a mustard seed knowing that Jesus performed many miracles because of faith.

Matthew 8:13 New International Version (NIV)

13 Then Jesus said to the centurion, “Go! Let it be done just as you believed it would.” And his servant was healed at that moment.

Matthew 9:2 New International Version (NIV)

2 Some men brought to him a paralyzed man, lying on a mat. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the man, “Take heart, son; your sins are forgiven.”

Matthew 9:20-22 New International Version (NIV)

20 Just then a woman who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years came up behind him and touched the edge of his cloak. 21 She said to herself, “If I only touch his cloak, I will be healed.”

22 Jesus turned and saw her. “Take heart, daughter,” he said, “your faith has healed you.” And the woman was healed at that moment.

Matthew 8:2-3 New International Version (NIV)

2 A man with leprosy came and knelt before him and said, “Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.”

3 Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!” Immediately he was cleansed of his leprosy.

The lack of faith prevented prayers being answered and miracles from happening in Jesus home town.

Matthew 13:57-58 New International Version (NIV)

57 And they took offense at him. But Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own town and in his own home.”
58 And he did not do many miracles there because of their lack of faith.

So here’s something to ponder on if your prayers haven’t been answered.

James 1:5-8 New International Version (NIV)

5 If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. 6 But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. 7 That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. 8 Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do.
