We always want more never having enough of something. There’s not enough time, money, friends, cloths, or our relationships, marriages, careers isn’t enough so we try to fill the void of our feeling of lack there of with different things. But do we really already have enough and just don’t see it? Do we maximize what we already have? As I ask myself that question having the same thoughts sometimes I’m reminded that God is enough. Not only is he enough he provides enough.
John 6:12 (NIV)
12 When they had all had enough to eat, he said to his disciples, “Gather the pieces that are left over. Let nothing be wasted.”
Did you notice that it says they all had enough but not only enough but had left overs. What left overs are we over looking in our life? Are we missing them because our complaints are blocking them?
John 6:26 (NIV)
26 Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, you are looking for me, not because you saw the signs I performed but because you ate the loaves and had your fill.
John 6:35 (NIV)
35 Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.
Jesus said that in him is where we get our fill never going hungry or thirsty. If this is true then we know that we already have enough. Lets not be like some of his disciples who abandoned him because they just couldn’t accept the fact that he was just that. ENOUGH!!!
58 This is the bread that came down from heaven. Your ancestors ate manna and died, but whoever feeds on this bread will live forever.” 59 He said this while teaching in the synagogue in Capernaum. 60 On hearing it, many of his disciples said, “This is a hard teaching. Who can accept it?”
John 6:66-69 (NIV)
66 From this time many of his disciples turned back and no longer followed him.
They left him the (only enough, the only one who can complete) to abandon themselves while searching for that thing called enough.
Enough? Take a moment to listen then finish reading below!!
Jesus asked a tough question to the twelve disciples that he’s asking all of us.
67 “You do not want to leave too, do you?” Jesus asked the Twelve.
Will you respond like the twelve?
68 Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. 69 We have come to believe and to know that you are the Holy One of God.”
Will you accept the fact that you already have THE ONE WHO IS ENOUGH? JESUS!!
I pray the next time we feel like we don’t have enough we remember that Christ is our enough!!!
