ENVY DESTROYS RELATIONSHIPS

JAMES 3 16
There’s a lot of relationships that have been destroyed, are being destroyed and will be destroyed by this satanic thing called envy. If you never experienced what envy feels like I stop by to tell you it doesn’t feel good and it will destroy every type of relationship if it’s not dealt with. I’ve unfortunately in my life experienced it in my home, in relationships growing up with friends and even in my work place. I’ve seen long friendships destroyed, I’ve seen parents envy their children because of accomplishments they’ve made in life that their parents never made causing friction within the family. I’ve witness it cause siblings to no longer speak to one another and I’ve seen one of the worst type of relationships for it to appear in, the marriage relationship destroyed and almost destroyed because of it.

When envy appears in this relationship it leaves a crack in the foundation because of insecurities and insecurities within oneself leads to major problems that can’t be resolve until the spirit of envy leave. Envy can’t hide itself no matter how hard it tries in any relationship, It’s always revealed. It seeps out underneath the deep surface and has the potential to be very dangerous. Luke 6:45 A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.
This is the reason why God despises it because not only does it destroy relationships it destroys people by causing them to do some crazy, evil things if they don’t recognize it.

We don’t have to go far to see that it existed from the beginning. We can open up the bible and see just how dangerous it is. Cain envied Able and because of it he killed him. He couldn’t hide it why? Because envy can’t hide itself no matter how hard we try to cover it up. Sarah had Hagar sent away because of it, Rachel’s envy over Leah caused her to demand Jacob to give her children or she would die. Joseph was sold into slavery because of it.

Acts 7:9(NIV)
9 “Because the patriarchs were jealous of Joseph, they sold him as a slave into Egypt. But God was with him

Moses dealt with it!!
Psalm 106:16 (NIV)
16 In the camp they grew envious of Moses and of Aaron, who was consecrated to the Lord.

Korah and Dathan were killed because of it!!

Numbers 16:1-3
16 Korah son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, and certain Reubenites—Dathan and Abiram, sons of Eliab, and On son of Peleth—became insolent 2 and rose up against Moses. With them were 250 Israelite men, well-known community leaders who had been appointed members of the council. 3 They came as a group to oppose Moses and Aaron and said to them, “You have gone too far! The whole community is holy, every one of them, and the Lord is with them. Why then do you set yourselves above the Lord’s assembly?”

Numbers 16:8-11
8 Moses also said to Korah, “Now listen, you Levites! 9 Isn’t it enough for you that the God of Israel has separated you from the rest of the Israelite community and brought you near himself to do the work at the Lord’s tabernacle and to stand before the community and minister to them? 10 He has brought you and all your fellow Levites near himself, but now you are trying to get the priesthood too. 11 It is against the Lord that you and all your followers have banded together. Who is Aaron that you should grumble against him?”

Numbers 16:31-33
31 As soon as he finished saying all this, the ground under them split apart 32 and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them and their households, and all those associated with Korah, together with their possessions. 33 They went down into the realm of the dead, with everything they owned; the earth closed over them, and they perished and were gone from the community.

David experienced it thanks to Saul and lastly James spoke the harsh truth about relationships with it.

James 3:16 (NIV)
16 For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice.

If you ever have to confront envy in your relationship remember this verse.

Proverbs 16:24
Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.

Ezekiel 11:19
I will give them an undivided heart and put a new spirit in them; I will remove from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh.

I pray that you don’t bring or allow envy into your relationships and I pray that if you’re already in a relationship that posses it, that God work on the insecurities that lies beneath the surface calling them out so they can be healed allowing your relationships to be healed in Jesus name Amen.
