Scripture Reading: Judges 6:12, Judges 6:15(Niv)
12 When the angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon, he said, “The Lord is with you, mighty warrior.”
Having self-confidence sometimes can be a struggle for many reasons in our lives. That lack of confidence could come from our child-hood, a negative spouse, friend, or even a boss. And because of that when someone gives us a vote of confidence or speak highly of us calling out what they see in us like the angle did to Gideon. It’s hard for us to accept it because we don’t see these qualities within ourselves like Gideon didn’t and we begin to respond just like he did.
15 “Pardon me, my lord,” Gideon replied, “but how can I save Israel? My clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my family.”
We can see from Gideon’s response that his self-worth was measured by other families in Manasseh and by his status within his family which caused him to be blinded by his own gifts, strength’s and abilities that God had placed within him. Just like Gideon, sometimes we allow these same things keep us from being the person God wants us to be keeping us from doing what he has called us to do even though we already possess the qualities within like Gideon did to get the job done.
Key Verses: Judges 6:14(NIV)
14 The Lord turned to him and said, “Go in the strength you have and save Israel out of Midian’s hand. Am I not sending you?”
Gideon already possessed the strength he needed to get the job done. If he hadn’t God wouldn’t have told him to “Go in the strength he had if we lacked it. Gideon’s inner strength was already there but he didn’t truly realize it until God called it out.
It’s time for you to remove the old Gideon within and step into your new Gideon that possess new strength and confidence in the abilities that God has given you and called out in your life.
Lord, help me to see myself as you do overcoming Satan lies and help me possess the confidence that you have in me without shame and self-doubt.
