DEVOTIONAL DAY # 8 STOP TRYING TO HIDE YOUR NAKEDNESS

Hiding from GOD

Scripture Reading: 2 Chronicles 18: 22 & 33 (NIV)
Key Verses: Genesis 3:7, Genesis 2:25 (NIV)

2 Chronicles 18:29 (NIV)
29 The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “I will enter the battle in disguise, but you wear your royal robes.” So the king of Israel disguised himself and went into battle.

33 But someone drew his bow at random and hit the king of Israel between the breastplate and the scale armor. The king told the chariot driver, “Wheel around and get me out of the fighting. I’ve been wounded.”

You could always tell who the king of any kingdom was just off the clothing that they wore. They didn’t dress like the average citizen because they wanted everyone to know that they were set apart from everyone else. Well King Ahab during one particular battle didn’t want anyone to know that he was a king because he feared if they did they would kill him. So he disguised himself trying to cover up who he really was but it didn’t work. King Ahab ended up being wounded and eventually died because of his wounds. After reading that over again this thought came to my mind that relates to us today.

What are the things about ourselves that we trying to hide from God in our lives? The next thought that came to mind was, if we are hiding who we truly are is it because we are afraid of being wounded if God exposed them within us? Adam and Eve were exposed and they tried the best they could to hide it from God.

Genesis 3:7 (NIV)
7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.

No matter how much effort they put in trying to hide from God it didn’t work. The truth is God lets us know in his word that he has already exposed us from birth with his words in Jeremiah, before I formed you in the womb I knew you. He knew the deepest part of your soul way before you even were thought of. So it’s time for us to take off the mask within and allow his wounds to heal us. King Ahab didn’t want to get wounded but he did anyway. Allow God to wound things within you that need to be so you can be healed. Let’s get naked before God without shame like Adam and Eve did in the beginning.

Genesis 2:25 (NIV)
25 Adam and his wife were both naked, and they felt no shame.

Remember this; if you stand before God in nakedness, he’ll clothe you in righteousness.

Lord, from this day forward I will stand before you in nakedness allowing any wounds you may bring in my life to heal me making me into the person you want me to be.

ISAIAH 61 10
