As I was studying 1 Corinthians chapter 12 during my bible time this thought came to my mind in regards to my family and families across the world. Within every family lies strengths and weaknesses because the family is made of individuals who have qualities of both. What happens in most families though is that we focus our attention more on the weaknesses while missing the strengths. We look at other families around us wishing that we could posses the qualities that they have. The problem with doing that though creates something in our minds that causes us to think the family we’re looking at is a perfect family.
The real truth though is that the family you’re trying to compare your family too have strengths and weaknesses just like yours. The bottom line is that all the qualities within our family is what makes up our family. With that our goal as a family should be to walk with each other and support each other to the point that one persons strength can be used to build up one persons weakness and vice versa.
God wants our families to shift our focus not so much on what’s wrong within our families but what is right within them. He also wants us to focus more on building each other up than tearing each other down. Sadly more families today are more focused on the latter and that’s exactly what Satan wants. God’s word proves to us that a family need each other but more importantly that we need him in our family in order to overcome Satan’s plan to destroy our family.
1 Corinthians 12:14-23 New International Version (NIV)
14 Even so the body is not made up of one part but of many.
15 Now if the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,” it would not for that reason stop being part of the body. 16 And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,” it would not for that reason stop being part of the body. 17 If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be? 18 But in fact God has placed the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be. 19 If they were all one part, where would the body be? 20 As it is, there are many parts, but one body. 21 The eye cannot say to the hand, “I don’t need you!” And the head cannot say to the feet, “I don’t need you!” 22 On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, 23 and the parts that we think are less honorable we treat with special honor. 11 Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.

13 But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.
So I encourage you not to let Satan use the weaknesses to destroy your family causing you to miss out on the blessings God has for your family.
I pray that as you go through this journey called life when you begin to experience the ups and downs that comes with it. That you never lose site of the fact that if you have a relationship with the Lord in the end Jesus wins and because of that you also win.
I can’t miss this opportunity so if your reading this now and you don’t have a relationship with the Lord please don’t exit before doing so because Jesus wants to do something that you can’t do yourself and that is save you. If your willing to allow Jesus to become your personal savior say this prayer. Pray Lord I confess with my mouth that you are Lord and believe in my heart that you rose from the dead for my sins. I ask for forgiveness of my sins and ask that you come into my heart teaching me and guiding me in the way that I should live in Jesus name I pray Amen!!!
