THE POWER OF ENCOURAGEMENT

It feels so good to be able to share your life experiences with friends and family. It’s even more important though to be able to have someone who you can trust that will walk side by side with you as you encounter tough times and trials in your life. In those dark moments having that someone who can give you encouragement is priceless. The body of Christ need to be there for one another as we walk together on a journey drawing ourselves closer to Christ. I can only imagine how many people are walking around us with issues but feel all alone in their journey because they have no one to lift them up and encourage them. I had an awesome opportunity yesterday to participate in a baptism of one of my close friends from high school. He faced many trials in his life that could have caused him to go in the wrong direction if he didn’t have people around him to encourage him. With some encouragement and support from those around him he was able to give his life to Christ. It’s so important to pick one another up when we are down. The bible through scriptures shows us how important it is to encourage on another during our dark times. I would like to share some scriptures that can be encouraging to all of us.

Acts 2:44-47 -44 All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45 They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. 46 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved. When you look at these verses you can see that through fellowship and prayer with one another they encouraged one another and the Lord increased his body (his people) using them through this fellowship.

Acts 12:5-5 So Peter was kept in prison, but the church was earnestly praying to God for him. When Peter was going through his storm those that where connected to him prayed for him during his tough time and God showed up providing a miracle. We like Peter should do the same falling on our knees praying for those who are going through tough times expecting a miracle.

Acts 14:19-20/22-19 Then some Jews came from Antioch and Iconium and won the crowd over. They stoned Paul and dragged him outside the city, thinking he was dead. 20 But after the disciples had gathered around him, he got up and went back into the city. The next day he and Barnabas left for Derbe. Wow they didn’t abandon Paul during this time like they could have. They had his back gathering around him and he recognized that and he got up. I wonder what would have happened if they left him all alone by himself. 22 strengthening the disciples and encouraging them to remain true to the faith. “We must go through many hardships to enter the kingdom of God,” they said.

Acts 15:32/36-32 Judas and Silas, who themselves were prophets, said much to encourage and strengthen the believers.36 Some time later Paul said to Barnabas, “Let us go back and visit the believers in all the towns where we preached the word of the Lord and see how they are doing. We also can learn something from this. We need to check up on those connected to us now and then to see how they are doing and provide them encouragement if they need it.

Romans 15:1-2-We who are strong ought to bear with the failings of the weak and not to please ourselves. 2 Each of us should please our neighbors for their good, to build them up.

Philippians 2:3-4-3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, 4 not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.

1 Thessalonians 5:14-14 And we urge you, brothers and sisters, warn those who are idle and disruptive, encourage the disheartened, help the weak, be patient with everyone.

Hebrews 3:12-13-12 See to it, brothers and sisters, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. 13 But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness. Encouragement here to me is put at another level because God shows us how important it is by saying (encouraging one another daily!!!). It’s so important that God encourages us to do it daily!!!

Hebrews 10:25-25 not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

I will leave you with this verse to pounder on!!!!
Ecclesiastes 4:9-10- 9 Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor:10 If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up.

So my question to you is this. Are you someone who can be counted on to provide encouragement to those around you who may need it? Or are you that person who are so busy with things around you that you fail to recognize those around you who may need encouragement? Or are you that person who thinks your words of encouragement does not matter? If you answered yes to the last two questions just know that God can turn you into that person in the first question.

Lord I pray that if someone answered yes to the last two questions that you do a work in their heart and allow them do recognize those around them who may need some encouragement and allow them to recognize how important it is to be encouraging. I also pray that if someone who reads this blog doesn’t have a relationship with you, that they ask you to forgive them of their sins and confess with their mouth that you are Lord and believe in their heart that God raised you from the dead and that they be saved in Jesus name I pray Amen.

Christ!!!! TWO ARE BETTER THAN ONE
