ANSWERING GODS CALL AND CHALLENGE TO SERVE

As we go through our life, I believe we all would like to have contributed on this Earth in a positive way. Sometimes we feel like it has to be something big when actually it doesn’t. We have so many opportunities right in front of us that we sometimes fail to take advantage of. I have seen people who want to help the poor but are discouraged because they don’t have any money. There are so many other things out there for us to do that can be very helpful that doesn’t involve money. When I think about Jesus and all the things he had done. It was all about servant hood. It was all about others and never about himself. Jesus displayed true leadership and strength in his ability to put himself last and others first. Jesus served others in so many ways one of them was with his time. We like Jesus should serve others. In doing that we show others what Jesus looks like on Earth and we in the process grow spiritually.

So if you can’t help out financially then there are so many organizations that could use your time volunteering and your talents to advance Gods Kingdom. Nehemiah who was a governor in the Bible was a man who put himself to the side to serve others. He refused to take the food allotted to the governor, because the demands were heavy on his people. Just like Nehemiah Tabitha also was a servant. Acts 9:36-36 In Joppa there was a disciple named Tabitha (in Greek her name is Dorcas); she was always doing good and helping the poor. Cornelius also was a man of faith that served God and served others. Acts 10:2-2 He and all his family were devout and God-fearing; he gave generously to those in need and prayed to God regularly. Just like those I have mentioned, there are so many others in the bible that served including the disciples and through their serving brought others to Christ. Our serving others could be a blessing for them that God answered through your obedience to give your time. I truly believe we have not truly experienced life to the fullness or feel like Jesus felt until we have been able to give back and serve those less fortunate than ourselves. You taking one step can inspire others to do the same and press the willingness to serve on your children hearts as they watch you. Before we go I would like to share some encouraging verses for all of us that God has laid on my heart.

Deuteronomy 15:10-10 Give generously to them and do so without a grudging heart; then because of this the Lord your God will bless you in all your work and in everything you put your hand to.

Proverbs-14:21-21 It is a sin to despise one’s neighbor, but blessed is the one who is kind to the needy.

Matthew 20:28-28 just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

Acts 4:34-34 that there were no needy persons among them. For from time to time those who owned land or houses sold them, brought the money from the sales

1 Corinthians 15:58-58 Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.

2 Corinthians 8:12-15-12 For if the willingness is there, the gift is acceptable according to what one has, not according to what one does not have. 13 Our desire is not that others might be relieved while you are hard pressed, but that there might be equality. 14 At the present time your plenty will supply what they need, so that in turn their plenty will supply what you need. The goal is equality, 15 as it is written: “The one who gathered much did not have too much, and the one who gathered little did not have too little.”

2 Corinthians 9:2/16-2 For I know your eagerness to help, and I have been boasting about it to the Macedonians, telling them that since last year you in Achaia were ready to give; and your enthusiasm has stirred most of them to action. 6 Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.

Galatians 5:13-13 You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love.

Ephesians 6:77 Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not people.

1 Peter 4:10-10 Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.

1 Peter 5:2-2 Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, watching over them—not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to serve.

I pray that God speak to you through this blog and your encouraged to go out and serve those who are in need as Jesus Lead you in the way you should go and that you one day hear Matthew 25:34-40-34 “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’ 37 “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’I also pray that if someone who reads this blog doesn’t have a relationship with you, that they ask you to forgive them of their sins and confess with their mouth that you are Lord and believe in their heart that God raised you from the dead and that they be saved in Jesus name I pray Amen.

  1. Michael. Some great reminders for all of us.
Many of us already know or will find out that we can serve God right in our own family.
