I’m sure we all have, or at least known someone who had someone try to bring them down for their own gain. They just knew they had this secret weapon that would just tear you apart and they would come out on top victorious in their plan on the other end. Only for their plan to be ruined and you rise and they fall not knowing that God was on your side. Stories like this been around for centuries and they happen everyday. The story of David and Goliath is just like this. This story relates to some of the things we go through everyday. After the end of this story, I will show you how it relates to us.

Goliath was the Philistines secret weapon. He was huge and stood over 9 feet tall and was super strong. They believed with him on their side they could not be defeated but God used this little boy by the name of David to bring him down. When David confronted Goliath, he was appalled that they would send this little boy to fight him but David knew that the battle was not his it was the Lords.

1 Samuel 17:41-47 and 49-51. ” Meanwhile, the Philistines, with his shield-bearer in front of him, kept coming closer to David. He looked David over, and saw that he was little more than a boy, glowing with health, and handsome, and he despised him. He said to David, “Am I a dog, that you come at me with sticks?” And the Philistine cursed David by his Gods. ” Come here,” he said, “and I”ll give your flesh to the birds and the wild animals!” David said to the Philistine, “You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of armies of Israel, whom you have defied. This day the Lord will deliver you into my hands, and I”ll strike you down, and cut off your head. This very day I will give the carcasses of the Philistine army to the birds and wild animals, and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel. All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves; for the battle is the Lord’s, and he will give all of you into our hands. “Reaching into his bag and taking out a stone, he slung it and struck the Philistine on the forehead. The stone sank into his forehead, and he fell face down on the ground. So David triumphed over the Philistine with a sling and a stone; without a sword in his hands he struck down the Philistine and killed him. David ran and stood over him. He took hold of the Philistine’s sword and drew it from the sheath. After he killed him, he cut off his head with the sword. When the Philistines saw that their hero was dead, they turned and ran.

Wow!!! When they realized their secret weapon was destroyed, they fled. When that person who tries to bring you down for their own gain realize they are fighting a battle against God and not you, and when he removes what they believe is their secret weapon, they will flee, and like David, you will be victorious!!! When God is with us and he has a plan it will always turn out in success in the end no matter how it might look. 1 Samuel 18:14 NIV ” In everything he did he had great success, because the Lord was with him. It’s when God leaves you that you should be concerned. 1 Samuel 18:12 NIV “Saul was afraid of David, because the Lord was with David but departed from Saul.
